Lou Lou Turns 5!

Emma has been asking to go camping for her birthday for 3 years in a row. We've had to explain to her that camping in Portland in March would really not be that fun. But since it was the "family party" year, we decided that we could camp at home. We made a "camping" cake (scene), a paper campfire and even pulled out the girls beach tents for sleeping. Justin and I slept out "under the stars". It was so much fun and Emma was thrilled. After hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner, we "roasted" marshmallows, ate cake and ice cream and then watched Planet Earth in the tents. It was a great birthday Emma - we love you!

The Cake - Justin took the scrap cake pieces and constructed the hill, complete with edible grass, gummy centipedes and spiders.

Getting ready for bed . . .
It looks like they really think they'll roast if they hold them there long enough.
Emma made that hat herself, just in case anyone didn't know it was her birthday!

What a fun party! I CANNOT believe my little Emma turned 5 - I think she will always be 3 in my mind (at least until the wedding).

What?! There is no way she's FIVE! I still remember when we were getting our pedicures together and both pregnant (all though I hadn't told anyone yet :D). Time really does fly. What a fun little camping party, love the cake!
